Before and After

After three full days of carting, organizing, emptying, trashing, labelling, cleaning, moving, and reorganizing, we are just about done with the great room and pharmacy. Dr. Street and Kathleen designed and built a wonderful house. It hasn't really been lived in full time for quite a while, though, so there was a bit of work between the house and its full potential. Apparently, people are not the only inhabitants of this house. We were drastically outnumbered by spiders and assorted creepy-crawly folk.

The pharmacy, the outdoor shed, the office and the great room have now been completely emptied, cleaned, sorted, and re-filled. One more storage room to go and we'll be ready for the team coming in on Sunday. Below are two "intermediate" pictures and two "after" pictures.

Oh, we also had our first experience with pressure cookers. Thanks to Jim and Kathleen, we know how to use those now (and they are so handy at high altitudes). We made rice in one and carrots in the other. Then we had cut up pieces of marinated steak over the rice. Don't let your mouth water too much, though. We found that "steak" purchased in the local store isn't exactly up to Outback's standards. A little chewy. Maybe we'll be pressure cooking THAT next time, too!

Anyway, that's all for now. One more day of cleaning and organizing, a half day of rest, then a medical team comes in. Wish us luck!!!!

Let me be sure I have this straight... Heidi is actively involved in cleaning and organizing multiple rooms? Is this the same HG whose "storage closet" on Potneck Road still sort of scares me? Matt, what have you done to her?

Otherwise, that steak you are talking about actually sounds good to me. I'm betting, from your description that it was "pastured" and "grass fed" instead of "corn fed." Ever since I read the book "The Omnivore's Dilemma" I've been skeptical of things like "corn fed beef" (because I never really thought about the fact that cows don't naturally eat corn unless we force feed it to them with a whole mess of antibiotics and additives for tender meat production.) So, when you're chewing that steak a few extra times, just realize that you're probably eating a lot better food than those of us who are eating at Outback.

Take it easy,
D.

You must have a great feeling of satisfaction to have your cleaning and re-organizing efforts completed. Great job!! We knew those skills would come in handy.

What are the words on your walls?

God bless you and your work with the team this week.

Love and prayers,
Mom and Dad
