Just a few more pics of the team in action on Day 2. Matt got to watch Heidi operate yesterday. Today, he scrubbed in as a second assistant on a very difficult vaginal hysterectomy. It took over 2 hours to get the uterus out in nearly 20 pieces.
Also, Hannah Ficker, a 21 year old pre-med student (who's family has been working as medical missionaries in Guatemala for several years) got to operate with Heidi. Heidi loves to teach, so it wasn't long before Hannah was suturing...
Tomorrow, a general surgeon arrives and is already scheduled for six cases. We'll be supporting two ORs tomorrow instead of just one, so pray for us!!!!
You know you can't outgive God. So as much as this team is giving to the people of Guatemala, one of the wonderful blessings we're receiving in return is that many of the non-medical spouses of medical people on the team are getting to observe their loved ones in surgery for the first time. This is very exciting, as it is absolutely not allowed in the U.S.!
Anyway, today was busy, but tomorrow will be much, much busier. Again, please keep us and our patients in your prayers!!!

We are glad to get the good report on how everything is going, and the photos (That is a close to an Operating Room as I want to get). So Matt is now going to add OR Assistant to his resume along with Engineer and Musician?
Amazing, excellent blog post. Many thanks for sharing this kind of goods. I must say i delight in it
